Rep. Massie Sounds Off On Beef Industry — USDA In Bed With Big AG

In a recent episode of The Kibbe on Liberty Show, Congressman Thomas Massie discussed the growing debate over beef imports and what it means for American ranchers. The conversation centered on a single, powerful question: Should America rely on foreign beef to fix its own market problems?

Massie, a Kentucky cattleman himself, argues that the current push to import more beef from Argentina undercuts U.S. producers. While the move might lower retail prices in the short term, he warns it could weaken the backbone of America’s food supply by driving independent cattlemen out of business.

He highlights a contradiction in federal policy & politicians talking about “America First,” yet import decisions suggest otherwise. For Massie, genuine “America First” means supporting domestic farmers and ranchers, not outsourcing production overseas.

Another major theme of the discussion is transparency. Massie strongly supports Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), arguing that consumers deserve to know where their beef comes from. Without that information, imported beef can blend into the market disguised as “Product of the USA,” leaving both consumers and producers at a disadvantage.

The Congressman frames the issue as a test of national priorities: “If we can’t feed ourselves, we aren’t truly independent.”
